Tata Motors has officially pulled the covers off the Harrier.ev, its most ambitious electric vehicle yet. Positioned as the brand's flagship electric SUV, the Harrier.ev pairs a striking design with a claimed range of 627 km and a starting price of ₹21.49 lakh.
The launch marks a clear step up in Tata's EV strategy, moving from mass-market models like the Nexon.ev and Punch.ev into genuinely premium territory where it now competes directly with Mahindra's BE 6 and offerings from Hyundai and BYD.
Range and charging
At the heart of the Harrier.ev is a 75 kWh battery pack feeding either a single rear motor or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. Tata claims a 627 km range on the top variant, which would make it the longest-range mainstream electric SUV currently on sale in India.
"We wanted the Harrier.ev to remove range anxiety entirely for the Indian family that wants one car for everything," a Tata Motors spokesperson said at the unveiling.
Pricing and variants
Bookings are now open with prices starting at ₹21.49 lakh and climbing to roughly ₹30 lakh for the fully loaded dual-motor variant. Deliveries are expected to begin within the quarter, with Tata's expanding fast-charging network positioned as a key part of the ownership pitch.
Should you wait?
For buyers cross-shopping the Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric, the Harrier.ev's combination of space, range and brand service network makes it a compelling option. Our full road test and comparison will follow once we get the car on Indian roads.
