Porsche will formally introduce the Cayenne Electric in India on 30 September 2026, its third battery-electric model in the country after the Taycan and the Macan Electric. The prices were announced in late 2025 when bookings opened, so the September event is the physical market debut rather than a first reveal: Rs 1.77 crore ex-showroom for the standard Cayenne Electric and Rs 2.27 crore for the Cayenne Turbo Electric. Deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2026, which means the first Indian customers should take their cars within weeks of the launch event.
What makes this launch worth more than a footnote is the hardware. Both versions carry a 113 kWh battery on an 800-volt architecture, the standard car claims 643 km of WLTP range, and the Turbo Electric produces up to 1,156 PS with launch control, making it the most powerful production Porsche ever sold here. This article lays out the confirmed numbers, how the two variants differ, how the Cayenne Electric compares with the electric SUVs it will be cross-shopped against, and what an Indian owner should realistically expect from range and charging.
Cayenne Electric vs Cayenne Turbo Electric: the confirmed numbers
Porsche is offering the Cayenne Electric in two configurations in India. Both share the battery, the dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout and the 800-volt electrical system. The differences are in motor output, acceleration, top speed and, because of the extra power, a slightly lower official range for the Turbo.

Note that the power figures reported for the standard car vary slightly between outlets: Autocar India lists 408 hp, while others quote 442 PS, which is the overboost figure. Torque quoted for the Turbo Electric ranges from 1,150 Nm in normal operation to 1,500 Nm under launch control. The battery, range and charging numbers are consistent across every source.
Charging: the fastest-charging car sold in India
The 800-volt system lets the Cayenne Electric accept up to 390 kW from a DC charger, which Porsche says can take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in about 16 minutes under ideal conditions. No public charger in India delivers anything close to that today. As we reported in our analysis of India’s 67,657 public chargers and their utilisation problem, 73 per cent of installed chargers are rated below 30 kW, and the fastest widely available highway units are 60 to 240 kW. On a 120 kW charger, the 113 kWh pack would take roughly 45 to 50 minutes for the same 10-80 per cent window; on a 60 kW unit, closer to 90 minutes.
That makes home charging the realistic daily routine for Indian owners, and here the numbers are more favourable. On the standard 11 kW AC onboard charger, a full charge from empty takes around 10 to 11 hours; the optional 22 kW charger halves that, but requires a three-phase supply that most apartment buildings would need to sanction separately. Regenerative braking is rated at up to 600 kW, which is unusually high and means the car can recover a great deal of energy in stop-start traffic without touching the friction brakes. The optional 11 kW wireless inductive charging pad is a first for the Indian market, though it is not yet clear whether Porsche India will offer the ground pad here at launch.
Range: what 643 km WLTP means on Indian roads
WLTP figures are more conservative than the MIDC or ARAI figures Indian mass-market brands quote, but they still represent a mixed cycle at moderate speeds. Based on real-world testing of large-battery electric SUVs in India, owners should expect somewhere between 450 and 520 km from a full charge in mixed driving, and less at sustained expressway speeds of 100 to 120 km/h with the air conditioning running hard. That is still enough for a Mumbai to Pune return trip or Delhi to Jaipur and back without stopping to charge.
The drag coefficient of around 0.25, active aerodynamics and adaptive air suspension (standard on both variants) all contribute to highway efficiency. Rear-wheel steering is available and reduces the turning circle, which matters in a car of this size in Indian cities.
How it compares with other electric luxury SUVs in India
At Rs 1.77 crore the Cayenne Electric sits above the BMW iX (about Rs 1.40 crore) and the Audi Q8 e-tron, and below the Lotus Eletre (Rs 2.55 to 2.99 crore). Within the Porsche range it slots above the Macan Electric (Rs 1.22 to 1.75 crore). On charging speed the Cayenne Electric leads the segment outright. On range it is level with the BMW iX and marginally ahead of the Range Rover Electric on paper. On price it undercuts the Range Rover by a wide margin while offering considerably more performance, particularly in Turbo form.
Cabin, tech and practicality
The Cayenne Electric introduces Porsche’s Flow Display, a curved 14.25-inch central touchscreen that runs down into the centre console, alongside a digital instrument cluster and an optional 14.9-inch passenger display. There is an augmented-reality head-up display, AI-assisted voice navigation and a Porsche Digital Key that lets the owner unlock and start the car from a smartphone or smartwatch and share access with up to seven other devices.
Practicality is strong for a performance SUV. The frunk holds 90 litres, the boot 781 litres, and folding the rear seats opens up 1,588 litres. With the optional Off-Road Package the car is rated to tow 3,500 kg. Matrix LED headlamps and adaptive air suspension are standard.
Running costs and the tax picture
Electric cars in India attract 5 per cent GST regardless of price, against 28 per cent plus cess on comparable petrol luxury SUVs. That structural advantage is part of why the Cayenne Electric can be priced close to the petrol Cayenne despite the 113 kWh battery. Road tax is where the state matters. Several states have ended or capped their EV road-tax exemptions for cars above a certain price, so a Rs 1.77 crore EV will pay full road tax in some states and nothing in others. Charging cost is trivial relative to the purchase price. A full 113 kWh charge at a home tariff of Rs 8 to 10 per unit costs Rs 900 to 1,130, or roughly Rs 2 per kilometre at a real-world 500 km. Even on a public fast charger at Rs 20 to 25 per unit, a full charge is under Rs 3,000.
Should you wait for the launch or book now?
Bookings have been open since late 2025 and deliveries are slated for the second half of 2026, so the 30 September event is the point at which cars physically arrive in showrooms and customer handovers begin. Buyers who book now will join the queue behind existing orders. Porsche India has not disclosed order numbers. Given that the Macan Electric already sells in meaningful numbers for a car above Rs 1.2 crore, and that the Cayenne is Porsche’s best-selling nameplate in India, the initial allocation is likely to be spoken for quickly.
The standard Cayenne Electric is the rational choice: it has the longer range, it is Rs 50 lakh cheaper, and 4.8 seconds to 100 km/h is already faster than the petrol Cayenne S. The Turbo Electric is for buyers who want the fastest Porsche SUV ever sold in India and are prepared to pay for it.
